Talent gap and role of colleges to fix it.
Gap does exist and I have as well realized the same .
Then the point that comes is why should a person undergo a particular degree course whether graduate or post graduate if they need to undergo another coaching or training , should that person not undergo training under that specific training centres?
I have seen this concept of training centres in the field of B.E(Electronics) , where students of B.E after their completion of 4 year degree course under go another 6 month to 1 year course in some separately run coaching centre to learn about VLSI related softwares where they spend separately another few thousands or around a lakh rupees . Why cannot these courses be incorporated in the curriculum of B.E (Electronics) ?
I understand that the issue of compliance of curriculum design is a complex issue but some autonomous colleges can also take up such specializations along with a generic degree courses.
Even amongst students of management colleges, some such specialization courses and training courses and coaching centres are run where programs for Labour compliance/ Recruitment/ Labour Laws/ Compliance portals / HRIS/ SAP courses, public speaking, finance for beginners.
Market is too broad a term hence being able to fit into all the aspects of the job market is difficult.
In the era of specialization and super specialization, some colleges can take up some specific part of the market demand and teach, enhance proficiency of its student in that field along with a degree and then target those companies for placement of their students which work on that proficiency which is taught at the college level or even students can focus on such companies in which they have got their specialization.
